This past week the Just For Laughs ComedyPro event in Montreal played host to the first live script-reading of Jason Filiatrault’s new half-hour project Tracy and Unicorn starring and directed by Jay Baurchel (Goon, Knocked Up) and featuring some of the best talent at the festival.
Presented by Thruline Entertainment and JFL, the annual event searches all over North America for the best unproduced comedy pilot scripts — this year selecting Jason Filiatrault’s Tracy and Unicorn from over 200 submissions.
Telling the unconventional story of a lonely young woman who summons a magical unicorn to help get her life back on track — with dark and bloody results, the script was read live to a packed room at the Just For Laughs industry series, with actor/director Jay Baruchel leading the charge.
Director Baruchel brought together a stellar cast for the reading including; Ellen Wong (Scott Pilgrim vs the World, Netflix’s GLOW), Mark Critch (This Hour Has 22 Minutes), Georgia King (Vice Principals), super-star comedian Elon Gold, and actor George Tchortov (Goon).
Tracy and Unicorn is currently in search of a broadcast partner, with several offers already on the table thanks in part to the Just for Laughs event.
